A short numeric code is being set up, so this will get quicker to type. The address will keep working either way.

If you would rather not use a code, the same file is the Android download. Casting to a Fire TV is not available, because Fire OS carries no Google Play services.

  1. Install Downloader by AFTVnews. It is free, and it comes from Amazon's own Appstore on a Fire TV or from Google Play on a Google TV.
  2. Let Downloader install apps. On Fire TV that is Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Install unknown apps, then switch Downloader on. On Google TV it is Settings, Apps, Security and restrictions, Unknown sources.
  3. Open Downloader, allow it to use files, type the code into the URL box and press Go.
  4. Press Install, then Open. You are done.

Before you start: check Settings, My Fire TV, About says Fire OS 7 or newer. The older sticks run Fire OS 5 or 6 and the install will simply fail on them. Leave about 100 MB free. On a Google TV, sideloaded apps do not appear on the home rows, so look under Apps, Your apps: people often think the install failed at exactly that point.
